There is an old adage: The problem is not the boat in the water, but the water in the boat. The same is true spiritually.
The church at Thyatira (Revelation 2:18-29) had a great ministry, but an even greater problem. A woman named Jezebel argued for a more progressive and permissive form of Christianity.
The reason was economic. The workers of this blue-collar city had lost business by not joining the local trade-guilds, which mandated the worship of idols and often included sexual immorality.
But we cannot tolerate sin for the sake of security. We must decide whom to serve. Jesus or Jezebel.
