Rewards shape values and motivate behavior. Our kids are rewarded for doing well in sports, music, school and even, sometimes, at church!
Jesus goes out of his way to reward Christians in the ancient city of Philadelphia (Revelation 3:7-13).
What were they doing well? Jesus says, they “kept My word” and “have not denied my name,” even during persecution. The church was successful because they were faithful.
This led to an unbelievable opportunity, unexpected protection from some suffering and an unshakable identity, rooted in their belonging to Christ.
Remember, a successful church has nothing to do with size, but faithfulness to Jesus Christ.
