The Church isn’t perfect
That’s easy enough to see
But I’d like to tell you what the church means to me.
I started in the nursery
And then became a youth
I was married in the church
My funeral will be there too.
Turnaround said the teacher
In our Sunday School room
I turned and met Tammy
Soon I was her groom!
Our little girl was born sick
We were so scared and sad
It was our church that surrounded us
The church had our back.
Called to be a pastor
Was not an easy choice
But the church affirmed and then confirmed
With one unified voice.
The Church isn’t perfect
That’s easy enough to see
But I’d like to tell you
What the church means to me.
In the church I’ve learned to worship
To submit to God above
Giving my life a sacrifice
Because of God’s great love.
The church gives me instruction
On how to live my life
Trust and obey we used to sing
That is good advice.
Teamwork makes the dreamwork
Fellowship is power
You were not meant to walk alone
Leave that ivory tower.
The church goes out into the world
Its expression is an impression of love
We must not keep faith a secret
But tell others about God above;
The Church isn’t perfect
That’s easy enough to see
But I’d like to tell you
What the church means to me.
It means everything – that’s all
Everything.
But why?
Because the church is the Bride of Jesus Christ
We are His one True Love.
To be loved by God
And love Him back
And to find love between you and me
The Church – it’s not perfect
But that’s what the Church was meant to be.
